I keep reminding myself….

It all starts with a tiny seed.

The hopes and dreams of the future begin so small and insignificant, and you can never be sure if they have the spark of life until you plant them and they begin to grow.

If carefully tended to, they will take on a will of their own, and surprise you by growing in ways you couldn’t have imagined, filling up the world with goodness and beauty.

You have to clear space for them to flourish, tearing out what was there, and leaving room for them to grow.

I am staying with friends for a few weeks while Ethan is in town, and they have brightened up my summer by letting me put in a late summer garden.

It is already a pretty permaculture-style garden, with many perennials scattered around, and ginger, turmeric, longevity spinach, chaya and bananas planted around.

I have really looked forward to this project! I love being in a garden again, without the sadness that overwhelms me when I still work in my old gardens at the farm.

It’s all fresh and new here. I am getting to know this place a little as I watch it carefully, to learn how the sun trickles across the ground throughout the day, and finding a place for each little plant to settle in.

My seeds are planted. I can’t wait to see how they grow!
