We had already been here on our last camping venture up North a couple of years ago – this time at least we had invested in a new camp stove, and we didn’t have to worry about a propane explosion like last time! It gives me confidence to know some life problems CAN be solved!
Fairy Stone State Park has a special kind of crystal that was said to bring luck and has healing properties (called Fairy Stones, of course). There is even a special hunting ground where you are allowed to collect a few.

Naturally, it was clear sky when we arrived around dusk, but at the most restful hour in middle of the night it began pouring like a divine firehose, and once again the Universe was testing the false advertising of a 3-seasons tent. Luckily we had invested in a gigantic tarp, the only major downsides/challenges of which were unfolding it, folding it up again, and actually fitting it in the car, but we did manage, with only a little disagreeableness among ourselves in the process.

After that, the most exciting thing that happened at Fairy Stone was when we were hunting for fairy stones, and Clo was looking in an off-the-beaten path kind of place up a steep hill. She slipped on the mucky clay, and managed to moon the fairly large group of people who were also searching for fairy stones, and who looked up when she slipped and screamed. Not a good day to forget underwear! With luck from our fairy stones, however, we’ll never see any of those people ever again.
